George Stanko, PEng – A Proven Executive and Lifelong Leader for Sarnia
For over 50 years, Sarnia has been my home. It is where my wife and I raised our two sons and I have two grandchildren . My dedication to this community is deeply personal, and my commitment to its future is unwavering.
As a licensed Professional Engineer (PEng), I spent 35 years driving operational success in Sarnia's industrial sector—including 27 years with Dow Chemical Canada managing global supply chains, manufacturing, and multi-million dollar budgets. Following this, I brought forward-thinking economic leadership as President and Chairman of the Board for CORE BioFuel Inc., navigating the complex intersection of green energy, corporate governance, and economic development.
My life has also taught me the deep value of devotion and care. For 12 years, I stepped away from the corporate world to act as the full-time at-home caregiver for my late wife during her illness. This chapter grounded me in the real, day-to-day challenges facing families, seniors, and caregivers across our community.
Sarnia is on the cusp of vital transformation. With an Engineering and MBA education and a career built on statistical productivity, analytical problem-solving, and cross-functional negotiation, I know how to bring stakeholders together to achieve consensus. I am running for Mayor to apply proven executive management, transparency, and collaborative team-work to City Hall. Together, we can build a safe, prosperous, and fiscally responsible Sarnia for generations to come
